Yacht Race report

"Troika" wins yacht race in tropical weather.

Troika, crewed by Charles Sutherland, his wife Anne and Crew Aonghais Rowe (who was press-ganged from Plockton) predictably led the fleet from the start and sailed a faultless race to win the Commodore's Cup in a light and warm Westerly wind.

New to the race too, was Bart MacFleat and family who joined the yacht racing for the first time in their newly acquired Hunter Horizon 26 named Sebrijo. They had been observed practising on Saturday and were one of the five yachts who flew their brightly coloured spinnakers on the down-wind leg.

The final results were:

First Troika, Second Scamander, Third Amatory, Fourth Mhojo, Fifth Sebrijo and Sixth Pegasus (who tried to extend the line at the end!!).

With ten seconds to go Troika sets up for a port-end flyer. The other boats on starboard tack are Scamader, Amatory, Mhojo and Pegasus. A close start!

Thanks to Jenny Hendry for her help as Race Officer and to David Johnson for his musical interludes and the use of Meridian as Committee boat.

Thanks to Alex of www.lochcarron.tv for this stunning photo which shows Troika, Amatory and Mhojo on the first lap.

This was the last scheduled yacht race on our programme, but by popular demand we will try to include one (or two) more in the next few week. Watch the News Section for more details.
