Lochcarron Yacht Race 23rd May

(Forty seconds to the start and three boats are spilling wind to avoid being across the line too early)

Our first Loch Carron Yacht Race of 2010 was held in inner Loch Carron and must have looked quite colourful from the shore, with most boats flying their multicoloured spinnakers on the down-wind stretch to Attadale shore.

Six yachts participated and it soon became obvious that the lighter conditions were suiting Steve Patch in "Planet Express" better than last week.

(Planet Express in full flow)

He and his crew had some close racing with Bart MacFleat and crew in his new Fulmar "The Rebel" and Rob Teago's crew on "Amatory".

(The Rebel)

"The Rebel" took line honours but on handicap the result was first "Amatory", second "Planet Express", third "The Rebel", fourth "Mhojo" (Dave Murray and crew), fifth "Playtime" (the Kitson-Jones's) and sixth Doug Angus and crew in "Pegasus". As has become traditional, we then gathered  at the clubhouse for a celebratory cup of tea -- or something stronger.

(The winner Amatory)

(Playtime and Mhojo doing their best to keep up)

(The crew of Pegasus believed they had taken "line honours" but it was later explained that they had done two laps while the rest of us had done three!)

(Rob Teago telling an attentive crowd how it is done!)

Many thanks to Carol for taking the photos! It just goes to prove that if you take 175!!!! some of them will turn out OK!
