Record numbers at our Training week.

We are now relaxing after our busiest ever training week at Lochcarron Sailing Club. The predicted gales in the middle of the week did not materialise and we were blessed with a beautiful day on Friday. Twenty seven (!) boats sailed across the Loch to Attadale accompanied by three rescue boats. These were crewed by 46 junior sailors and quite a lot of adults (I lost count -- but no doubt Jenny will be able to fill in the details.)

Speaking of Jenny -- the club owes her a tremendous THANK YOU for all the time, effort, blood, sweat and tears that she has expended over the last MONTH to make things run so smoothly. Have a well deserved rest now!!

Thank you too, to all the other helpers, kitchen "staff", trolley dollies, mopper-uppers, boat-watchers, instructors and general "go-fers". Without the great support of club volunteers the week couldn't happen.

Also thank you to Caley Marina who leant us their excellent Pioner dinghy with a 15hp (brand new) Yamaha outboard. It performed faultlessly all week.

(We have applied to Ross and Cromarty Sports Council for grant funding, to assist us in keeping the costs as low as possible. We have in the past received grants of £500 and we are very grateful for this support. Fingers crossed it will be available this year.)

The young sailors did us proud. We have a great bunch of juniors who worked really hard, usually listened to what they were being told and then tried their hardest to put it into practice on the water. The sight of all those dinghies making their way to Attadale in a group brought tears of joy to to several of those who were watching.

Lastly, thanks to Alex Ingram of www.lochcarron.tv for taking our photos and letting us display some of them here.
