Barbeque at IsleOrnsay!

Saturday the 12th of July saw six of our larger boats set sail for a “Cruise in Company”. The forecast Northerly wind on Saturday and Southerly wind on Sunday appeared exactly as predicted so we had an excellent sail through KyleRhea narrows to IsleOrnsay for the night, returning with the tide and wind on Sunday afternoon. Doug and Alison Angus sailed on Pegasus, Dave and Mhoira Murray on Mhojo, Roger and Cath Coppock (who had come back to Lochcarron on their yacht) joined in on Bragela and Steve Patch and Jenny Baker joined the fleet as we passed Plockton, on Scamander. The biggest grin was found on the face of Marcus Given who, with Ian Mitchell, made his maiden voyage on his new yacht Rocinante. David Johnston on Meridian completed the set as we passed under the Skye bridge. Later his crew of Lillian Maclean and John and Sheila McPherson provided an excellent barbeque on board. We all gathered round the glowing charcoal as the wind blew quite cold over the deck, but the comradeship was warm and the banter flew until the separate crews had to make their wobbly ways back to their own boats in rubber dinghies! Meanwhile the real “sea dogs”, Roy and Bunny, kept us busy as they required several trips ashore to answer calls of nature. The highlight of the weekend must have been the triumphant return of Rocinante and crew accompanied by our two resident dolphins until they reached Slumbay Island.
